The first occurrence of the society concept is defined as the total labor force.
The total labour power of society, which is embodied in the sum total of the values of all commodities produced by that society, counts here as one homogeneous mass of human labour power, composed though it be of innumerable individual units.
Die gesamte Arbeitskraft der Gesellschaft, die sich in den Werten der Warenwelt darstellt, gilt hier als eine und dieselbe menschliche Arbeitskraft, obgleich sie aus zahllosen individuellen Arbeitskräften besteht (S. 53).
Toda la fuerza de trabajo de la sociedad representada en los valores del mundo de las mercancías figura aquí como una sola fuerza de trabajo humana, aunque consta de innumerables fuerzas de trabajo individuales. (p. 47)
There is a slight difference between German and English. In German says "darstellt" (represented), but in English says "embodied". There are a society because there is a human labour power, represented by the values of all commodities.
